Summer IT Sessions
Summer is drawing to a close, and that also means the end of our Summer IT Sessions.
Each summer, members of staff travel around the borough to offer drop-in sessions in as many libraries as possible. This year, two of our librarians managed to visit 8 of our 11 lending libraries (and the Information & Reference Library) to offer quick fire IT help. While we offer bookable Taster Sessions year round in all our libraries, the Summer IT Sessions don’t require booking and are shorter. They’re designed to answer individual questions from as many people as possible in quick succession. People simply show up and get help!
This year, we saw over 30 people who came in for help. We looked at everything from emails to note apps on smartphones, tablets and laptops. We talked online security and commiserated over how easy it is to accidentally start video chats on messaging apps.
Summer IT Sessions always receive good feedback, and people often tell us how useful it is to have drop-in help at their local library. This year was no exception, and we were thrilled that plenty of people left comments saying how helpful they’d found the sessions. Some of the comments included:
“Wonderfully calm and knowledgeable help”
“Very helpful and friendly”
“The best session I have experienced”
“Very supportive and explaining all my questions in detail”
“Excellent information”
While helping everyone is always very rewarding, it’s especially so when people leave such lovely comments. Thank you to everyone who attended the sessions and took the time to give us such great feedback.
If you missed out on this year’s summer sessions, don’t worry. The Information & Reference Library has these drop-ins all year round. Four times a month, you can turn up to get your question answered by members of our helpful and competent staff. We hope to see you there!
