From 23 to 27 April, staff at the Information & Reference Library in Richmond will be hosting a series of workshops to help you make the most of online opportunities. Whether you want to buy or sell, keep in touch with friends, research your family tree or just make better use of your tablet or phone, our sessions will help you make the leap!

WhatsApp is a messaging platform which allows you to send photos and messages as well as make phone calls for free over the internet. It is a great way stay in touch with friends and family on your smartphone and Tuesday’s basic session will show you how to get started!

On Wednesday, there are two sessions all about eBay. Come along to one or both to gain confidence on the ins and outs of this website!

Buying on eBay Whatever you are trying to buy, eBay is a great place to look for bargains. Learn how the popular auction site works and how to sign up for PayPal in this helpful session.

Selling on eBay How does selling on eBay work? This session looks at uploading photos and adding descriptions for those who hope to cash in on their unwanted possessions.

Instagram Thursday’s workshop covers the popular photo-sharing social media site Instagram. Find out how to create an account and edit and share photos on your tablet or smartphone using Instagram.

Ancestry If you’ve always wanted to discover your family’s history now is your chance to take those first steps. Friday’s session focuses on using Ancestry Library Edition and will discuss Ancestry’s wide range of resources and demonstrate how to search for your ancestors.

Tablets Made Easy Our popular drop-in session is perfect if you own an tablet but don’t feel you are getting the most out of it. Drop in to this session to have your questions about your tablet or phone answered by our friendly staff.
